“ Absolutely amazing Japanese restaurant “hidden” away on the main highway. Food based on a seasonal degustation menu with small plates coming in individual courses. Reminded me of the Kaiseki meals I’ve had in Japan but with a touch of Italian mixed in as well. Staff were super friendly discussing each course as it arrived and speaking with us after the meal as well. It’s not a large restaurant so make sure to book first. Would definitely go again to try next season’s menu. ”

The service is exceptional - like traditional omakase they do give you a short description of each course, but unlike traditional omakase you don't sit at a counter, you sit at a table which allows more private conversations to take place. “ I can still taste all those wondrous flavour celebrating in harmony. It was an unforgettable night. Residing in Neutral Bay, this Italian x Japanese restaurant sits right on the busy Military Road. You may have drove past without notice, but I highly recommend you checking this out. Chef Toru orchestrates this restaurant and you will be amazed that he is the only chef creating all these beautiful dishes! The dim light, wooden table, timber floor and the wooden cupboard creates a very soft tone of the dining space, infusing a sense of comfort, welcoming and warmth. With soft music at the background, you can enjoy genuine conversation and spend quality time with your friends over the meal. It is truly a place where you can appreciate the freshness of produce and creative combination of flavours. The professional culinary skills are also accompanied by beautiful plating and the tentative service by Hiroko. Degustation menu rotates every season, but you can check with the restaurant if you return too soon! This is definitely staying in my list and guaranteed for more returns! ”
“ Easily one of the best Japanese restaurants in Sydney. 3.5 hours of pure blessing and feast. I was lucky to visit this restaurant when their seasonal menu was Japanese focus, and I hope they keep it that way! “ August 2025 My second visit this week. With every Omakase there are outstanding dishes and we are often served some average dishes. I have always been of the view that one truly memorable dish makes it a good Omakase. At 16, we didn’t have a weak dish but we were served some outstanding dishes. *The Oysters marinated in rice vinegar and pomegranate juice reminded me of the extra course at Tetsuya’s two decades ago, except this was better. An amazing dish. *The Sea Urchin was nicely presented and the dressing matched perfectly. It was quite possibly the most memorable single piece of food I have eaten in my life. *The Sashimi comprised of four separate dishes. All were excellent but the standout was the snapper. It looked like two pieces of sashimi served with wasabi and special salt rather than soy sauce. This was possibly the best piece of sashimi I have eaten. The Eel dish was a piece of fried crumbed eel served on a small piece of nori. Another amazing dish. The Menu then switched to an Italian theme, a traditional pasta with butter, egg and black truffle. I have had this dish in different cities around the world but this was the best version I have eaten. The best Degustation I have had was Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester in London. That meal has now been displaced by this meal at 16. This Omakase was so lovingly prepared and delicious that I cannot do it justice in words. 16 has only four tables and it was an incredibly charming and personal dining experience. Highly recommended! ”
